Delicate and Delicious Krumkake Cookies

Making Krumkake

Krumkake  

2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup cream
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon vanilla

Beat eggs; add sugar and mix; then add cream, flour and vanilla. Put one tablespoon of batter on the preheated krumkake iron. Bake on both sides. Remove when it is golden brown and shape around a cone. Some families simply roll them up without using the cone form. Others like to leave them flat like pizzelles.

Submitted by Karen Soucy (Thanks, Karen!): I have my Grandmothers recipe for Krumkake. She was born and raised in Bergen, Norway
and this is the recipe handed down through the ages:

2 eggs                                     1  tsp cardamom
1 cup sugar                            1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup butter, softened       1 scant cup milk

Beat eggs well. Add sugar, butter and cardamom, beat well. Add flour and milk even parts at a time beat until smooth.
Because these were originally in metric measure this is as close as we can get. God Jul a month later!

There is an additional charge for shipments to Canada and Alaska. Alas, we wish it weren't so, but the shipping costs are higher to these destinations.
