Rommegrot: Scandinavian Milk Soup

Microwave Rømmegrøt
4 c. 2% milk or 3 c. half & Half and 1 c. milk
1 c. butter
1 c. flour
3/4 t. salt
1/4 c. sugar
Heat
milk slowly in a kettle. Meanwhile, melt butter in the microwave in a 2
qt. bowl. Stir flour into the melted butter with whisk until smooth.
Cook until it bubbles, about 1 minute. Stir hot milk into the flour and
butter mixture. Use a wire whisk to stir until smooth. This is like
making a white sauce.
Return
to the microwave and cook and stir until it reaches the desired
thickness, about 2 minutes at a time for a total of 4 minutes. Add salt
and sugar, cook a little more.
Serve
warm with cinnamon and sugar and maybe a little more melted butter.
This is a very rich milk mush or milk soup. This will make about six
servings. Enjoy!
