Grandma’s Sugar Cookies
4 c. flour
1 tsp. Baking soda
1 tsp. Baking powder
1 c. shortening
1 ¾ c. sugar
½ tsp. Salt
1 c. thick sour cream
2 eggs
1 tsp. Vanilla
Mix the shortening, sugar, and eggs together. Stir in the
sour cream and vanilla. In a separate bowl, stir the flour, baking soda, baking
powder, and salt together. Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.
Roll out on a lightly floured board to about ¼ inch thick. Use a cookie cutter
(or an upside down drinking glass) dipped in flour or sugar and cut out the
cookies. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and lightly sprinkle with sugar.
Bake for about 8-10 minutes at 375 degrees. Do not let them get too brown. They
should be a nice white color.
